Our company has recently been restructured and made some changes and as a result the name of the business has changed.
Now the board and execs want the name of the old company wiped off the face of the earth and as a result they want the domain name changed.
The problem with this is the IT environment we have inherited is its... messy. Like it would take a team of Hollywood writers to even imagine it and just when you think you've worked out what's been done, in comes the consultant writer M. Night Shyamalan to add a twist.
There's domain logon's provided for scheduled tasks, services, hard coded into applications and more.
Building the domain from the ground up is not really an option at this point (we are severely under resourced) and I'm hoping that there is another option so that it can be a purely cosmetic change with out the need to do months of analysis.
The easiest option so far seems to be fire, but I'm happy to hear alternatives.
