I was called out to a server down situation at a friends company. They had a Windows 2003 server running as the DC, file server and had an accounting package DB installed. The details were sketchy, but the 5 disk RAID 5 array failed on two drive and was DOA. The customer choose to have a data recovery vendor restore the data from the failed array. The recovered data will not be delivered in the original format, they just take the data on put it all on one drive in the original folder structure. I am building out a new server for them now.
Here is the question: What is the process for restoring the Active directory database from the recovered files? I am hoping to not have to recreate the domain and manually add back all computers and uses. They also have an exchange server that is tied to the domain.
Any direction on this would be appreciated.
