Password Expiry not working

I am using Server 2003 and mainly Windows XP (with some Win 7).

I have set a password policy in Group Policy setting pw age, length history. If I view the client machine with reop.msc these policies have been deployed.

In AD I have set the users pw to expire (it was previously never expire).

If I use the command:

net user /domain

on the client machine it shows Password Expires Never

If I reset the client password the above command still shows Never.

How to I force user accounts to reset to Password Does Expire?
