First off please excuse my ignorance when it comes windows servers. I know just enough to be dangerous. My company recently acquired a small office and I am taking over their server. They have a 2008 r2 environment with a domain. I simply want to remove the domain and keep the server up and running some software that is on it but have it not be a part of my domain. So I want to demote it as a domain controller I assume. I can find instructions on doing that with dcpromo but there is a warning:
"Before you complete this procedure, verify that this domain controller is not the only global catalog and that it does not hold an operations master role."
I don't know what any of that means. I just don't want it to be a domain controller anymore or have any other roles really. Should I just dcpromo the thing and then will I be able to just put...
