We're thinking about a new naming convention for our workstations (currently using first name) due to growth. Mostly our employees are stationary and do not move around.
I'm NOT asking what scheme you use (there are plenty of posts about this), but I am curious as to how everyone keeps up with what employee uses what machine and how these machine's locations are recorded. I know that location can to an extent be recorded in the computer name as well (like office, floor, building, etc), but this won't help much in a room with 50 people...
Spiceworks has a location field. Are other folks putting in the name of the employee/location there? If I said, "go bring me PC-002A", how would you know where it was located and what user it "belonged" to?
