This may sound like a really dumb question, but I've never seen this before so need to bounce the idea.
Am trying to apply some GPOs (ie defaults) and had no luck, but suddenly realized that it was because I was trying to apply a user policy to an OU which didn't have my users in (DOH!) as previously I'd only done Computer level policies. Anyway, i moved my user account to the test OU and it started working, great.
But, my question is, all the users in my 2003 Active Directory are in the default Users Folder. I've never had a need to move them or needed User GPO so its never come up, but now I don't think I can apply a user GPO to this folder, so I need to move them to a new OU.
If I move all my users, well a test group first, including security groups and distro groups to a new OU will this cause any issues? Or failing that, could I create a new GPO at the domain root level and will that do the same thing? Need it to apply to all users anyway, but if I can move them all to an OU without affecting like Exchange Distro groups etc then target just that OU, that'll be preferred.
