Hi Guys, I need your urgent help.
We have 2 VMware ESX server which has 4 VM's on it.
Server 1
- SQLServer (SQL)
- Additional domain controller + Exchange server (Exch)Additional domain controller + Exchange server (Exch)
Server 2
- Domain Controller (DC)
- Terminal Server
Today we faced a hard drive failure on Server 1, only SQL was affected as that was on that hard drive, Exch was on another hard drive. Server 2 was not affected at all.
We replaced the Hard drive for SQL & restored the Data from old backup and it was back online. But we are having issues with EXCH coming online. First it would give Bluescreen error
"STOP: c00002e2 Directory Services could not start because of the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning.
Error Status: 0xc0000001. Please shutdown this system and reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode, check the event log for more detailed information."
Then we restore EXCH from a old backup ( 2months old as we did not have any recent) we restored it to New_Exch, we did not change anything inside windows. When we turned it on, it booted fine but takes ages to login.
I am getting error Target principal name incorrect which i Manually replicate the NTDS settings.
when i ran DCDIAG i get the replication generated an error (1256)
Exchange OWA is not starting as well gives error The Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service on server localhost did not return any suitable domain controllers.
If i open unc path \\exch\C$ i get error its not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Logon Failure: The Target account name is incorrect.
Please suggest anything that can bring the server back online. Either a solution to the blue screen or the Target Principal name error. I've tried many things to fix the Bluescreen like deleting log file in NTDS folder etc which are mentioned online but none of them seemed to work.. The hard drive is online as well in Computer management.
