Hey Spiceheads!
So here's one for the community:
Recently, we have experienced an upsurge in "pirate printing", in the sense that our users are changing the printer settings on their local machines in order to print REAMS of paper in color. Now, our policies state very clearly that all prints must be in black and white and double sided, with the exception being for prints that need to go to clients, like tenders or plans or such, or documents that are approved by supervisors.
The problem we face is that users change the settings but don't change them back, which results in a lot of wasted ink and paper. Also, while everyone is required to print to a "custom box" set up on the printer, way too many of our users have figured out how to bypass this, which results in tons of paper being thrown away or dumped in the recycling boxes.
Now, my friends, the question:
Because we are all on the same domain etc would it be possible to set up a group policy which resets the printer settings to default and then lock them that way? To mind, this should be possible, as my understanding of group policy is that its a set of commands that are enforced on laptops and pc's from the server itself and overrides any other setting? (Very new to this)
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance!
