We currently have SBS 2011 and its only purpose is for Active Directory and File/Print Sharing. We have a main office and ranch office in 2 different states connected via Gateway to Gateway Tunnel. The main office has the server. Each office has several network printer. We currently share, through mapped network drives, about 300GB of data (90% are jpeg's pertaining to our line of work). Our exchange is on office 365 now. The box is becoming a pain in the @@@ to support so I was wondering what anyone could suggest as far as moving AD to the cloud. I would love to take the box down completely.
I know as far as file sharing, I'd like to maintain that feel of mapped network drives and allow my users to still browse through Windows Explorer. My CEO hates change and as long as he doesnt have to 'learn' something new he is happy. Meaning if i can go into his office, remove one mapped drive and add another (something similar) he's happy. I'd still like to have network printers. Both offices are on cable so the upload and download time is very good.
Someone suggest Cubby for filesharing...but so far i'm not pleased with what i have seen. I guess I need this question broken down into a few answers!!
