In our environment, we have one Exchange 2010 server (with all roles
consolidated) and two DC's. One of the DC's is physical and we would
like to virtualize it. From what I understand, best way to accomplish
this is to just introduce a new (virtualized) DC, replicate the data to
it, and retire the old DC.
What I would like to understand is
how Exchange 2010 will "forget" the old DC and "pick up" the new DC. Do I
have to manually make Exchange aware of the new DC?
This
physical DC holds onto all the FSMO roles and a is a global catalog
server. Other than moving the FSMO roles to the new virtualized DC, is
there anything else I should be aware of before demotion of the old DC?
And, specifically with respect to Exchange 2010?
Thanks for any help!
