Printer deployment

Hello,

We've been deploying Windows 8 to a number of our sites and we've encountered an issue with printer deployment and I was hoping the community could provide some direction or ideas in regards to troubleshooting the issue.

We've got three sites running Windows 8 at this time. For those sites we deploy printers through the Print Management MMC (on Server 2k8r2). The computer side GPO that Print Management deploys through is linked to OU for the site and immediately in that OU are the site machines.

Two sites are deploying without any kinds of issues. For the third site there is always at least one machine that doesn't get the printers deployed to it. A review of the event logs show a number of errors, however they are no different from the sites that deploy fine, as well as my personal work machine, which is also windows 8.

The GPOs in question have been around for ever. They're the same GPOs that we used to deploy printers to Windows 7 machines and we still have 7 tablets at these sites and they're not having any issues with printers. No changes have been made to these GPOs at all.

If I take a working site's GPO and link it to the not working site, the printers from the working site deploy without issue. With that in mind I decided to try and push the not working printers through it and see what happens. I set up GPPs and item level targeting and fired it off and still nothing.

It's almost like these machines just don't want to read the policy information. I've checked RSOP and the policy modeling wizard and per Microsoft, everything should be working as intended.

From the machines that the printers won't deploy to I'm able to access the print server share and manually add the printers without any problems. I've also tried building the GPO through GPMC running on my Windows 8 machine and still no joy.

The one thing that has really struck me is that it appears to be something about the equipment at this site which shouldn't be an issue because it's pretty much identical to the equipment at the other sites.

Thoughts?
