Greetings,
I have been trying to sort this one out for days but just no luck.
I need to push out settings for Security/Local Intranet/Sites and also a predefined favorites folder for IE 10.
IE10 is already installed through WSUS on Windows 7 SP1 x86 machines..
It looks like the only way to do this is with IE 10 is through IEAK. I have installed IEAK 10 and created a configuration only package. I have copied this package to a UNC share that has read permissions to Domain computers. I then created an assigned GPO in Computer Configuration\Policies\Software Settings\Software Installation that points to the msi file.
This GPO is link enabled to a specific OU where my testing computer is assigned.
When I do a gpupdate /force on the testing computer it reboots but then it just sits at 'Please wait...' on startup. I have to do a hard restart and then when the computer restarts I can login but the policy is never applied.
Looking at the application event log I received an Event 1000 'Interactive Services detection'. a device or program has requested attention.......
It looks like the package created by ieak10 is not running silently.
I have searched the internet for this and although people mention ieak10 there is no mention of issues running the package silently.
I know when you run IEAK 10 and create a full IE 10 package you do have the option to create a silent package but not when you run the configuration only package.
I have also looked at the msi file with Orca but do not see any obvious switches to run silent. Even tried to add an 'update' section as per a thread found through a search and that did not make a difference either.
Is anyone using this type of configuration and is it working successfully for them?
I would really like to sort this out.
Thanks!
