I'm working on an old SBS 2003 environment and seeing some strange issues with domain name. There seems to be a mis-match on the domain name in various places. On the SBS server, there is one domain name - call it Domain A - and I see this on the workstations too under computer properties. However, if I look at the user domain property (e.g. echo %userdomain%), that shows as Domain B.
We're deploying a new DC running Server 2012 Essentials and the current SBS server will be destroyed. That being said, I'm not overly concerned except for the fact that the new domain name actually happens to be Domain B. So, I'm worried there may be some issues when I move the workstations to the new DC because of a name clash.
The new DC has been on the network, so is it possible that the workstations somehow picked up the Domain B name from this? No users have been setup on the new DC so there is no way anything could have authenticated.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
