Good afternoon, guys.
We're a company of around 60 users currently running an SBS 2003 environment. There's a share on the DC that hosts roaming profiles for the majority of our users. Some of these users have stored music, photos and videos within their profiles that has synced to the profile's location on the server. I'm trying to move that data from the roaming profile to their local hard disks.
Using the Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 I've managed to free some space by editing the group policy for folder redirection. I set the 'Music' property setting to 'Basic - Redirect everyone's folder to the same location' with 'Redirect to the local userprofile location' as the target folder location. However, I've done the same for the 'Videos' and 'Pictures' properties but in these cases it's made no difference. This data is still residing on their roaming profiles and taking up quite a lot of space
Clients are using a mixture of XP and Windows 7 and the changes I've made have worked for the 'Music' folders but not the other two across both sets of OS.
I've no issues with photos and videos being stored on their local HDDs but I've no desire to back them up every day and, obviously, they're taking up server disk space that can be much better utilized in other ways.
Any ideas on what I may have missed here?
Thanks in advance!
Luke.
