I've read here in the forum that it is typically not a big deal to raise the domain functional level if all DCs are on the same level. We began our Windows environment with Server 2003 and have since moved to Server 2008 R2 which all of our DC are at. I looked in the AD Domains and Trusts and it shows that the current Domain Functional Level is at Windows 2000 native. I'm not sure if when Server 2003 was installed that it was set lower than 2003 for some odd reason and has been at that level ever since. (before I had control of the dcs :)
I now want to raise it but should I raise it from the Windows 2000 native where it is currently at to Windows Server 2003 THEN go to Server 2008R2 for the next step (2 step process) or just take one big step from functional level 2000 to 2008R2?
Just don't want to break anything
